Former prosecutor of the International Crimes Tribunal, Barrister Turin Afroz, cried in the courtroom before the hearing on the application to show his arrest in a case filed under the Anti-Terrorism Act. The hearing was held at the Dhaka Metropolitan Magistrate's Court on Wednesday.
This morning, a hearing was held on the application to show Turin Afroz's arrest. His lawyer, Mohammad Selim, told the court, "Turin Afroz has been tortured. He wants to say something." With the judge's permission, Turin said, "I never held a political position. I only performed my professional duties. I am physically ill. I cannot walk due to leg pain. My leg was hurt during remand." At this time, he kept crying. JSD President Hasanul Haque Inu, who was standing next to him, consoled him.
Later, state prosecutor Omar Farooq Farooqi said, "Turin Afroz is making false allegations." At that time, Turin showed the judge the marks of torture on his feet. After the hearing, the Metropolitan Magistrate granted the request to show him arrested.
